Bastia is one of Corsica's
most beautiful cites. Even the "New Quarter" was built in the 15th century.
Between the old quarter of Terra Vecchia, founded in 1380, and the Terra
Nova, the dominant influence is Genoese, but Napolitano influences are
evident in the cracked houses, with balconies of wrought iron and façades
with multicolored linens flapping in the breeze.
Saunter around the Saint-Nicolas Square, sip a coffee at a terrace cafe,
walk through the Romieu Gardens, and on over to the Citadel, pictured above. |
