Today, Genoa's old town
boasts narrow, busy streets with a typical Mediterranean ambiance, while the
new town features modern buildings, gardens and villas. Visitors will also
find a number of splendid marble palaces FROM the 16th and 17th centuries.
Well-preserved churches, museums, piazzas, and a fairly new aquarium are
additional attractions.

The ship is scheduled to dock at the Stazione Marittima. It is
approximately 1.5 miles to the town center. Taxis are generally
available at the pier.
Shopping
A wide variety of shops offer souvenirs, leather articles, clothing,
shoes and jewelry. Exclusive boutiques are located at Via Roma and Via
XXV Aprile. Caricamento Square and the Porto Antico area offer a little
bit of everything.
Cuisine
Genoa offers typical Italian Mediterranean cuisine based mainly on fresh
seafood and pasta. The best local restaurants are located in the center
of town.
Other Sights
Via Garibaldi. Palazzo Bianco and Palazzo Rosso boast picture
galleries including fine family portraits by Van Dyck, Tintoretto and
Caravaggio, among others.
Piazza Matteotti. This square features important buildings such
as the former Doge's Palace, known for its frescoes by Carlone and
Tiepolo, and the Gothic San Mateo Church with a crypt containing the
tomb of General Andrea Doria.
Golf
Rapallo Golf Club.
Rapallo Golf Club is one of the oldest courses in Italy, laid out in
century-old parkland surrounded by thoUSAnds of trees, including cedars
and cypresses and pines. The view is an important companion during
the game! Breath-taking and stimulating, as at the 18th hole, another
par 4 to cross the river. The green is close to the patio of the Club
House and those eating and drinking will have a chance to appreciate, we
hope, your good end of course performance! |
