The old town, or Vieux Port, is the focal point
or St. Tropez.. The harbor is filled with sleek, gleaming yachts that have
replaced the simple fishing boats. Pastel-colored houses ring the waterfront
and present the classic St-Tropez experience: sidewalk cafes with martini
sippers, small boutiques with the latest fashions, skimpily-clad starlets
parading up and down, and painters with their easels on the quayside.
Pier Information. The ship is scheduled to
anchor off St-Tropez. Guests will be taken ashore via the ship's
tenders. The town center is a five minute walk FROM the landing site.
Taxis are generally available at the end of the pier. |
Shopping. Many fashionable boutiques line the
narrow streets of the town center. Some shops observe lunch time
and close between noon and 2 and on Sundays. |
Cuisine. Quai Jean Jaurès is full of open-air
eateries and cafes. Whether you fancy a freshly-baked baguette and
delicious cheese or a typical French four- or five-course meal with
wine, either one will be most enjoyable. |
Other Sights
Musee de l'Annonciade. Located in a former chapel, this is a
delightful museum with its amazing collection of works by Matisse,
Bonnard, Dufy, Signac and Rouault. It is closed between noon and 2.
Naval Museum. Located in the citadel, it contains information
about the 1944 Allied landings as well as exhibits dealing with the
region's early maritime history.
Beaches. Plage de la Bouillabaisse, Tahiti Plage, Bora Bora Plage
and Epi Plage are the most popular.
Golf
Cannes-Mandelieu Golf Club was founded in 1891 by the Grand Duke
Michael of Russia. The scenery is outstanding and the greens and
fairways are impeccable. |
