This round-trip cruise from Lisbon takes in highlights of the Iberian Peninsula, Gibraltar and the Balearic Islands, as well as quick taste of Africa at Morocco. We sail first to the island of Madeira, where we call in at Funchal, an important harbour during Portugal's Age of Exploration. Next, we reach Morocco, where we visit Agadir before heading north to Casablanca. We continue to Gibraltar, with its monolithic limestone mountain, and then stop at Spain's city of Motril, an ideal base for an excursion to nearby Granada and the spectacular Moorish palace of Alhambra. Sailing east we reach Cartagena, with its Roman amphitheater, and proceed to the vivacious city of Valencia before stopping at Barcelona. Next, we spend a day at Mahon, the small and elegant capital of the Spanish island of Menorca, then hop over to Mallorca, stopping at Palma, with its spectacular Gothic cathedral and thriving art scene. Heading back to mainland Spain, we reach Alicante on the Costa Blanca and sail on to lively Malaga. Continuing south, we touch the tip of Africa at Tangier, Morocco's cosmopolitan northern city, and then visit Spain's historic port of Cadiz before returning to Lisbon.
