Trapani was founded as a port for the hilltop fortress town of Erice. As ‘the city between two seas’, it holds an important strategic position on a peninsula where the Mediterranean Sea meets the Tyrrenhian Sea. Walk the narrow streets filled with refined baroque buildings with their typical wrought-iron balconies, picturesque restaurants and antique shops.
